Situated 180 km south-east of Istanbul, Eskisehir is one of the two F-4 Phantom II air bases of the Turkish Air Force (the other is Erhaç situated in the eastern part of the country). Eskisehir is the 1nci Ana Jet Üssü (1st Jet Air Base). It is home to three squadrons of the venerable Phantom II: 111 Filo (operating the updated F-4E-2020), 112 Filo (standard F-4E) and 113 Filo (RF-4E reconnaissance aircraft). Also based at Eskisehir but reporting directly to 1nci Taktik Hava Kuvveti Komutabligi (1st Tactical Air Force Command) is 201 Filo, equipped with CASA CN-235 and Eurocopter AS.532AL/ULs. Additionally, Eskisehir is home to the 1 HIBM.K (1st Air Force Maintenance Centre) to which we couldn't get access unfortunately.
We would like to thank the following persons for their help in arranging the visit of Eskisehir air base: Lt Col Ali Osman, Capt Ercan Poyraz of the Turkish Air Force General Scretariat and Hüseyin Kiremitiçi who escorted us during our visit.
