(notes: as the days of TLP at Florennes are counted now and with one of the last flying courses taking place from this airbase, I undertook another journey to Belgium. Although the weather was quite good as forecasted, I was shocked by the sight of a “dead” TLP ramp when arriving on the spot just 90 minutes before expected first take-off time for the TLP mission. Luckily, aircraft began to be prepared soon and a mass-launch of some 20 aircraft without noteworthy ground-abort took place. Although the number of participating aircraft was rather limited this time, the nice mix of aircraft types made up for a very impressive experience. My personal highlight of course were the two Polish F-16s with the two-seat version mocked of with the large dorsal spine and external fuel tanks – a really terrific sight. Also very welcome were the pairs of nowadays rare USAF F-15s, Spanish F-18s, Italian AMX’s plus French Mirage F.1s and Mirage 2000s. Recoveries could be enjoyed on nice sunshine with another highlight being the visual formation run-and-break of two Tornados paired with two Mirage F.1CTs. Once again, a nice and successful day at “Superbase” Florennes)

TLP mission cancelled due to the weather, when first pairs of participants were waiting for take off (RW08), precisely when the airbase was invaded by mist.

Report provided by Graham Skinner

We arrived about 08.30 to good sunny weather, shortly after arriving the TLP hangar was opened and in the back left hand corner was nose on either an F-18 or Tornado, but at that distance difficult to be certain.

On the TLP ramp reading from right to left were the following, difficult to positively id due to early morning light:
Back row
3 x F-16 Polish Air Force
5 x F-16 Italian Air Force
2 x M2000N
2 x Mirage F1CT
gap later filled by F-16B Italian Air Force
2 x AMX
Front row
4 x F-4F
4 x Tornado, 1 x gn and 3 x gy id'd was 44+65 AG51,
EF-18M (C.15-65)/ 12-23 Ala 12
gap later filled by 12-04
definate 2 but possible 3 F-15E from LN, difficult to be 100% sure as parked with HAS in the way
Tornado gy outside hangar
There were tugging a Tornado gy unidentified into the hangar early, we were still on the road then putting on wellies, lots of pullovers and socks etc to keep warm!

The following arrived etc
09.30 F-16B Italian Air Force arrived unidentified, reported as (MM7268)
10.25 EF-18A C.15-46/12-04 Ala12 arrived and went straight onto the TLP ramp next to the other one
10.55 Tornado 43+72 JBG33 departed, this was the one in front of the hangar.
11.05 Tornado 44+80 AG51 arrived and went onto TLP ramp with the others
F-16C 4055 Polish Air Force was tugged to the hangar as 44+80 was taxying in

We then had the start up and taxy of 4 x Italian F-16's just as the fog started to roll in, with the subsequent cancellation of the launch.

13.20 Tornado 44+65 AG51 departed
We were going to wait as we were heard that a Spanish C-130 c/s AME3109 was due around 14.00, but with the weather as it was we decided to leave as it probably would have to divert anyway.

Additions by Martin Uleman

This what i read myself at runway 08.
The 4 Italian vipers ready for take off where:
MM7265
MM7268 (F16B)
MM7243
MM7259

The waited for about 18 minutes before the mission was cancelled.

When the fog came in we went for runway 26 to take a look on the ramp.
(For as far as it go's.)
We couldn't read anything (without one Spanish Hornet (12-23)).

Before we left there was also departing:
* 44+65
* And an Italian Viper, mostly the F16B but where not sure about that.
