Runway use at Brussels IAP

Hello !
What runway configuration to expect At Brussels IAP ? This is of course THE question ! … because regarding this, photo places you will reach may offer different opportunities, and quality of picture you will take.
Two parallel runways are mostly used. These are Runway 07R/25L and 07L/25R (the longest runway at BRU).
A third runway is used some times, it is a 02/20 runway orientation.
Most of the time, runway 25L and 25R are in use (even with light wind blowing from East !) ;
Runway 25L takes arrivals of all aircraft except cargo aircraft, military aircraft, bizjets, and few airlines (mainly belgian and some from shenghen countries).
Runway 25R takes the the military and bizz, stuff, cargo stuff and some airliners. Runway 25R takes ALL departing aircraft.
So, in this popular wind configuration, you need some “luck” to photograph the most interesting aircraft on landing.
Runway 25L provides good spots for landing aircraft.
Runway 25R provides average spot for aircraft landing. As for aircraft departing, the only way is to try to get them at “Abelag”, but aircraft are far and sometimes already high at that place.
Runaway 02/Runway 07R use ;
If the wind is blowing from North East, and is blowing above 20 km/h, runway 02/20 should be in use. Remember they use it when other configuration is not suitable at all.
At 15h00, light is in the axis of the runway. Light is not good from 13h00 till 17h00. In that case, during winter, you are toasted, but during summer, it is your lucky day !
Runway 02 is used for ALL arrivals ! Best light in the morning until 12h, and in the afternoon after 17h … Great photo locations all day long.
Runway 07R takes nearly all departing aircraft (all but cargo aircraft, bizjets, and some military aircraft) and does provide good photo locations (as there are the same spots as runway 25L arrivals).
Once a year, runway 07L is used for landings, 07R is used for departures.
RW 07L does provide good photo opportunities until mid afternoon, and in the (late) evening.
Once a year, runway 20 is used for all arrivals. See article below to have infos on this particular configuration.
The place is good in the morning, but not great for the evening. Sun is really badly placed around 15h.
To be continued soon …
